Following the passage of Hurricane Irma, one of the strongest hurricanes in our recent history, the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross has been working tirelessly in responding to the tragedy which hit our sister isle of Barbuda, displacing the entire population of the island. Our relief efforts which total upwards of $519,100 US Dollars, and over 3500 volunteer hours included the distribution of Non-Food Items (NFI’s), Donation of Medical Supplies and supporting the Livelihood of Local Fishermen.

108 TENTS DISTRIBUTED
In collaboration with ShelterBox, The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross has distributed 108 Temporary Shelters in Barbuda.
US $50,000 medical equipment
US $50,000 worth of medical equipment (complete Consultation Room and full Emergency Room) was donated to the Hannah Thomas Hospital in Barbuda through the Canadian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC)
In an effort to support the livelihoods of the Fishermen in Barbuda, the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross has embarked on the following activities:
• Repairing of damaged Fishing Vessels
• Retrofitting Fishing Vessels with Diving Equipment
• Retrofitting Fishing Vessels with Emergency Equipment
• Retrofitting Fishing Vessels with Communications Equipment.
In an Emergency Situation, the outbreak of Vector-borne and Waterborne diseases is always a risk. Through our close collaboration with our Health and Wellness Department, The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross can proudly report that there were no outbreaks of these diseases. Water and Sanitation Hygiene Booklets along with Brochures about the Zika Virus were distributed throughout the appeal.

The disbursements of funds for the Cash Transfer Protocol will be made to a Debit Card provided by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
